Life with Lightroom

It took me about a year, but I finally bit the bullet and began a subscription for Adobe’s Creative Cloud, complete with Lightroom and Photoshop. I’ve always tried to avoid a heavily processed look in my images (mostly because I didn’t know I what I was doing), but after just a few weeks of playing with the software I’m blown away by how powerful these tools are. It should have been obvious, I know, but I just never had experience with them.

To take full advantage of the options at my disposal, I also switched over to shooting completely in RAW format (the second half of the pictures below) which I hadn’t been doing previously as I was using basic image editing software, and most of the photos were ending up here or Instagram at significantly reduced quality.

Having the control to adjust nearly every aspect of my images has been really fun and I’m able to save so much more of what comes out of my camera. I still have a lot to learn as I continue playing around with the Adobe suite, but here’s a sample of what I’ve been up to so far this Fall.
